Boertex ©

The intention
To Create a Biomaterial garment from an abundance of a vegetable waste stream in The Netherlands. From food waste to fashion design.

The vegetable of the season: Artichoke

The idea behind Boertex is to experiment with the vegetable waste and my job as a fashion designer is to explore whether it is possible to make a “current” design using this biomaterial. A final prototype will be made with textile alternatives to raise awareness around material innovation.

2020-21
Rebecca van Caem. — La feria de Tarifa— One of the most appreciated festivities in the south of Spain — a week full of culture and tradition. La cabalgata, the cristianism and the flamenco fuse together to form one swayful force of the Spanish freedom and expression.

“Soy gitano y vengo a tu casamiento.

Apartirme la camisa, la camisita que tengo.

Yo soy gitano y vengo a tu casamiento.

Apartirme la camisa que la tirnieron.”

“La Feria” is a collection based on a week full of
tradition, pride and cul- ture for all of the national
Spanish people.

This week of festivity consists of traditional cordoba dressed citizens, a horse cavalry named the Cabalgata and the members who carry a statue of both the holy Mary and Jesus towards their towns church.

“Y a mi me gusta soberear,

La yerba la yerbabuena.

Un cante por solea,

y una voz quebra y serena.”

“Una guitarra y tus ojos,

Ai al laito de una candela.”

This time it’s my turn to translate the joy that is experienced when I return to my Spanish home and its familiarities. I feel like this time I’m playing a role as a Spanish self and my collection will serve as story line for this play.

“Por ti yo lo dejo todo y hasta te di

todo lo que tenía

Yo sé que es difícil pero estaré

cuando tý me ames aquí estar”
